Jeffrey Siegel's Keyboard Conversations: Chopin for Lovers
7:30PM

The Virginia G. Piper Theater at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts
7380 E. Second St.
Scottsdale, AZ, 85251

Renowned concert pianist Jeffrey Siegel celebrates his 30th season of Keyboard Conversations in Scottsdale with "Celebrating Chopin", a special series devoted to the 200th birthday of Chopin, whose demanding piano works stand as masterpieces of 19th-century Romanticism. In this unique ‘concert with commentary’ format, Siegel discusses the music with the audience before each performance. His charming wit, insights and virtuoso performance delight newcomers to classical music and seasoned aficionados alike. Each work in Chopin for Lovers was inspired by a different woman in the composer’s love life.

The Met Opera Live in High-Definition: Jacques Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann
11AM-3PM

Meet announcer Katrina Becker at the KBAQ table at this location:
AMC Desert Ridge 18
21001 N. Tatum Blvd., Suite 32
Phoenix, AZ, 85050
phone: 480-606-0806

Live from the stage of New York's Metropolitan Opera house, Offenbach's opera comes to Valley movie theatres on the big screen in high-definition. Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher directs this new production, returning after the triumph of his Met Barber of Seville (seen live in HD in the 2006–07 season). Offenbach’s fictionalized take on the life and loves of the German Romantic writer E.T.A. Hoffmann is a fascinating psychological journey. Met Music Director James Levine conducts Joseph Calleja in the tour-de-force title role; Anna Netrebko is the tragic Antonia and Alan Held sings the demonic four villains.

Conductor: James Levine; Production: Bartlett Sher; Kathleen Kim, Anna Netrebko, Ekaterina Gubanova, Kate Lindsey, Joseph Calleja, Alan Held

Approx. running time: 4 hours (2 intermissions)

Visit the Metropolitan Opera's website for more details, or purchase tickets here.

Stay tuned to KBAQ -- we'll be giving away tickets on the air.
